Fabric Composition
Standard offerings:

- 70% cotton / 30% polyester — more wrinkle-resistant, athletic markets
All fleece and French terry are pre-shrunk before cutting. Untreated 380 GSM fleece can shrink 8–10% on first wash. Pre-shrunk treatment brings shrinkage to under 3% — what most retail standards require.
French Terry vs Fleece: The Practical Tradeoff
French terry has a looped back, smoother face. Lighter, breathes better, works for layering or variable climates. Fleece (brushed back) is warmer, softer inside, better for standalone hoodies in colder conditions.
For southern US markets: 280–320 GSM French terry performs better — customers don’t need the warmth.
For northern EU and UK: 380–420 GSM fleece handles the climate and the premium price point.
For streetwear/oversized: 380–420 GSM with a relaxed fit — buyers in this segment associate heavier weight with quality.
How We Keep Quality Consistent From Sample to Bulk — and What Inspection Actually Looks Like
The most common complaint about clothing manufacturers: the bulk order didn’t match the sample.
This usually happens at one of three points:
- Fabric sourcing: Supplier changes fabric source between sample and bulk
- Production variation: Sample runs on different equipment than bulk
- QC gaps: No systematic inspection, just visual check
Here’s how we handle each:
1. Fabric locking: Before we produce your sample, we confirm the fabric spec (GSM, composition, supplier lot). That exact lot is reserved for your bulk order. If the reserved lot runs out, we source from the same supplier with the same spec — not a same-type fabric.
2. Same production line: Your sample and bulk run on the same equipment. We note the production line and shift on your order confirmation.
3. Documented inspection: Here’s what inspection actually looks like at Yauum:

What AQL 2.5 Means in Plain Terms
AQL (Acceptable Quality Level) is the maximum percentage of defective items considered acceptable in a batch. AQL 2.5 means up to 2.5% of inspected pieces can have minor defects before the batch is rejected.
- For 100 pieces: acceptable defects = 0–2
- For 500 pieces: acceptable defects = 0–12
- For 1,000 pieces: acceptable defects = 0–25
Critical defects — safety issues, wrong label, missing components — result in automatic rejection regardless of AQL.

The 7-Day Sample Process, Step by Step
7 days is the total. Not just production. Here’s the breakdown:
- Day 1: Receive your inquiry + tech pack or design description. We review and confirm feasibility. If something in the design won’t work as specified, we flag it now.
- Day 1–2: Pattern making. We create or adjust the pattern based on your tech pack. You receive a sketch confirmation before cutting.
- Day 2–5: Production. Cutting, sewing, finishing. This is where your design becomes a physical piece.
- Day 6: Quality inspection. We check the finished piece against your approved spec before packing.
- Day 7: Photos + dispatch. You receive inspection photos and tracking.
What you need to provide: Tech pack is preferred but not required. Minimum: design sketch or reference image, target size spec, fabric preference (GSM/composition). If you don’t have a tech pack, we’ll ask questions to fill in the gaps.
Sample cost: Quoted per design complexity. Most standard hoodies start at [price] per piece. Sample cost is credited toward bulk orders over 100 pieces.
Sample-to-bulk consistency guarantee: If your bulk order doesn’t match the approved sample — in GSM, construction, or color — we remake the affected pieces at our cost. This is in writing on every order confirmation.
What Happens After You Approve the Sample — Production, Inspection, and Delivery
Once your sample is approved and deposit received (typically 30–50% of order value), production begins.
Standard timeline: 21 days from deposit + sample approval to shipment.

Lead time assumes a complete tech pack and no design changes after deposit. Changes add 3–5 days.
Payment terms: T/T bank transfer (standard). L/C available for orders over $10,000 — useful for established brands who need payment protection. T/T 30/70 (30% deposit, 70% before shipment) for first orders.

All labels checked against your spec — size label, country of origin, fiber content — before packing. If labels are wrong, the batch doesn’t ship until corrected.
L/C vs T/T: Which Should You Use?
T/T: Direct bank payment. Faster, lower fees, simpler. Best for orders under $10,000 and brands with established trust.
L/C: Bank-guaranteed payment. The buyer’s bank guarantees payment when conditions (shipping documents) are met. For larger orders where you want payment protection. L/C adds 5–7 days processing and $300–$800 in bank fees.
